Winchester Ammunition 62 Grain Open Tip Ammo Details
Winchester designed this 223 Rem cartridge to mimic the performance of the ammo employed by the Department of Homeland Security for securing our homeland. The DHS is eager not to accidentally bring their training ammo to somewhere dangerous, so this round sports a saucy purple casing for easy identification. You can benefit from such distinctive looking ammo as well! This cartridge has a 62 grain projectile -- slightly heavier than the 55 grain weight that the caliber most frequently offers, and better able to resist wind deflection as the result. The bullet is even more accurate because it is an open tip, with a consistent lead core that settled into place within the jacket while it was still molten.
This casing is not only neat because it’s such an unusual color. It is also high quality, and able to be kept in action for a while if you’ve got what it takes to fill it back up again. Winchester’s primer is non-corrosive and their propellant is clean burning, two things any rifle appreciates.

Great stuff! Wish I had bought another case before it was gone. Fast shipping and a great price for OTM.

fed well in ar15/w 18" & 16" ss 1 in 8 barrels both rock river. Same in hk93. no chance of riccochet off gongs as bullet is all lead. nice to find quality 62gr bullet that does not contain penetrator. ammo shot 1 moa from benchrest at 100 yd. will buy more if available.

Weird crimp but fed consistently in multiple AR15’s including one 24” 223 only that seemed to group well with it. The tips of the bullet are not perfectly concentric (evenly circle) but still shot great. I have a Purple AR so it was a must have. Two Thumbs up from this guy. Get it while they have it.
