12 - The Military Ration Co. Meals, Ready-to-Eat (MREs) Details

Have you ever wondered how you’re going to eat when all your favorite restaurants have been shut down due to … reasons? Then you’d better stock up on something in addition to ammo: rations! We’ve got non-milsurp Meals, Ready-to-Eat (MREs) for you to keep ready in the event of a crisis. Or just take it camping if you don’t feel like packing the cooler!

This case contains 12 individual MREs. One MRE can feature any of the following entrées: beef stew, beef strips in tomato sauce, beef taco fillings, chicken burrito bowl, grilled jalapeño beef patty, macaroni in tomato sauce, Mexican rice, Southwest beef and black beans, spaghetti with meat, vegetarian taco pasta. Each MRE also includes the following: cookie pack (2), side dish, jelly packet, tea bag, salt, pepper, fork or spoon. Each MRE also includes a flameless heater: add 2 oz. water and wait 5 minutes for a hot entree (MRE can also be eaten cold). Average calories per meal: 550. Shelf life: 7 years.

This is not military surplus. You can see which entrée you’re signing up before before opening the packet.

Similar to the packets handed out by the National Guard during our Helene disaster. Not gourmet, but when there is no power, cell service, internet or gasoline and stores are closed, they taste good enough. One test packet in the photos.
