These excellent hunting rounds from Fiocchi's Extrema line are mainly manufactured in Ozark, MO and undergo a meticulous inspection process. Each .30-06 cartridge propels a 180 grain projectile from Hornady's Super Shock Tip (SST) brand. 180 grains is a common hunting weight in this caliber due to its balance between low drop and high impact energy. The low-drag SST design consists of a hollow-point front, a red polymer windshield, a tapered boat tail rear, and Hornady's Interlock ring. The low, internal ring works in conjunction with the toothed cannelure in order to slow expansion thereby increasing its effect on big game. As an added benefit, the cannelure maintains the projectile's position in its crimp under heavy recoil and rough handling in order to preserve accuracy.

Upon impact, the SST's ballistic tip is driven back into the hollow cavity, initiating a controlled rate of expansion with no jacket separation and very little fragmentation.
