Federal Ammunition 110 Grain Jacketed Hollow-Point (JHP) Ammo Details
The .38 Special may be relatively mild-kicking compared to some pistol cartridges, but it still produces considerable felt recoil in a compact carry revolver. This ammunition from Federal aims to solve that problem without sacrificing muzzle velocity or expansion. Each round in this case of 200 fires a 110 grain bullet; these projectiles are similar to the ones used in the Hydra-Shok series and have a hollow point design with a center post that helps keep material from clogging the expansion cavity. Lower recoil means faster follow up shots for more effective self-defense!-

Gel test Results
In hopes of giving ourselves and our customers a better idea how this 38 Special self-defense ammo would perform if called upon in a self-defense scenario, we tested dozens of the best selling hollow points on the market.
We fired five rounds of this Federal Ammunition 38 Special ammo through a cloth barrier into Clear Ballistics calibrated synthetic gelatin and recorded the results. For these tests, we used a S&W 640 with a -inch barrel.
