This cartridge is crowned with a round nose profile projectile that’s safe to load in a lever-action rifle’s tubular magazine. It’s Remington’s tried-and-true Core-Lokt soft point, which features a jacket that is mechanically locked to its lead core to promote higher weight retention and deeper penetration. Although there are limits to how ballistically efficient a bullet without a spitzer profile can be, the 200 grain SP overcomes frontal air resistance effectively enough to achieve a 0.181 BC. That equates to 900 ft lbs of energy transfer at 200 yards, with -22.2” drop at 300 yards afterward. Up to double-diameter expansion at closer range, although there is significant mushrooming in store for deer at 200 yards as well!
