Gel test Results
We tested this G2 Research 40 Smith & Wesson ammo by firing five rounds with a S&W M&P40c with a -inch barrel into calibrated Clear Ballistics gelatin. Of those five rounds, we discovered the ammo penetrated an average of 10.68-inches into the gelatin. Our test rounds ended the test with an average expanded diameter of 0.4-inches, retaining 43% of the projectile's original weight.
On this page, you'll see video of our tests including photographs that detail the ammunition before/after firing it through a four-layer barrier into gelatin. Also, you'll see how this G2 Research 40 Smith & Wesson ammunition stacks up compared to other self-defense rounds in 40 Smith & Wesson.

I understand people at first saying that this round was a gimmick. I even waited for two iterations of this round before giving it a good go. With this being the third generation of the RIP projectile, I can definitely say that they got it right. They serrated the trocars so that they would penetrate deeper which was an absolute pro move. They also added weight to them, and now the trocar penetrate deeper in ballistics gel and view any x-ray of an RIP bullet victim and you will see I just how deep the trocars now penetrate and spread.
I was once a skeptic, and I certainly believe the first generation had its issues. But now I am an absolute believer, and would not trust any other round for within my home, where I need around to dump all of its energy into the intended target and not leave any projectile outside of them. -

I used this ammo unexpectedly against a Rabid Coyote which was coming at me. I pulled my Glock 23 in .40 caliber. One shot in the coyotes mass stopped him in its track . Massive exit wound from his left shoulders right through vital organs. Thank God I had this RIP Ammo. I use this as my carry ammo in all my firearms. The best ammo on the market..
