Barnes Bullets 185 Grain Solid Copper Hollow Point (SCHP) Ammo Details

This 45 ACP +P cartridge by Barnes features the 185 grain TAC-XP projectile. The bullet is made entirely out of copper, a tough metal which does a stellar job of passing through heavy clothing and retaining essentially all of its weight as it penetrates its target deeply. The bullet’s hollow point nose cavity enables it to mushroom dramatically as well, making it an indisputably sound choice for self-protection.

This round’s brass casing is plated with Techni-Crom, a material which does an even better job than nickel of facilitating feeding and ejection in a semi-automatic firearm and providing resistance against corrosion. Barnes’ low-flash propellant will preserve your night vision, so you’ll be able to more effectively dump a mag on a threat or engage multiple targets at once. That this round’s bullet is relatively light for its caliber will further help you to make accurate follow-up shots. Please note that this is +P ammunition.

Gel test Results

We tested this Barnes Bullets 45 ACP (Auto) ammo by firing five rounds with a Ruger SR45 with a -inch barrel into calibrated Clear Ballistics gelatin. Of those five rounds, we discovered the ammo penetrated an average of 13.82-inches into the gelatin. Our test rounds ended the test with an average expanded diameter of 0.772-inches, retaining 100% of the projectile's original weight.

One of the most devastating 45apc rounds I've ever shot. It's massive HP really explodes right after impact & very little penetration is needed. I also have it in 44spl & 44mag. If it wasn't for the small pieces everywhere, you'd swear it looks like a road-kill raccoon was hit with a Klingon Disrupter....Ha! Looked like there'd been a Pulled Meat fight there.
Seriously, it is a one shot round. If you hit your target, an intruder, you won't need a second round...unless there's 2 of them!
