This cartridge is loaded with a lead-free hollow point projectile: solid copper, which makes it compliant with bans on lead bullets and abnormally clean-shooting. More importantly, the SCHP boasts the superior durability requisite for truly deep penetration. That helps make up for the 10mm’s low striking energy (compared to traditional bottlenecked hunting cartridges, at least).

This round’s bullet is no run-of-the-mill SCHP, of course. It is the Barnes XPB, which spreads out six flat petals throughout penetration. Each petal has two angular corners which scrape against soft tissue to create a wide and genuinely injurious wound channel whilst simultaneously spreading energy outward in lateral directions.
