But if you’re looking for 12 Gauge magnum ammunition that’s specifically optimized for taking snowies, then you’ve just found some of the best!Snow geese are big birds. This is a big, powerful shell, with the 3.5” hull it needs to store a heavy 1-3/8 ounce payload of BB steel shot and the powder to propel so much weight to a ripping-fast muzzle velocity of 1,550 feet per second. Snow geese like damp areas, because they are geese, which is why Winchester’s Xpert steel shot pellets are treated to resist corrosion – that helps keep the round balls smooth and aerodynamic enough to fly straight, cluster tightly, and hit the bird with greater collective energy.
This shell features Winchester’s Diamond Cut Wad, which erects multiple fins to promote cleaner separation from the shot column and a resultant tighter pattern. The wad is black, which makes it less visible while it’s lying on the ground.
