Phasianus colchicus. The common pheasant, which makes for uncommonly fun hunting so long as you’ve got good 12 Gauge ammunition. But this isn’t good ammo for taking ringnecks out of commission. It is great ammo for taking ringnecks out of commission, because it is Prairie Storm FS Lead by Federal Premium!This shell features Federal’s FliteControl Flex wad. The stiff one-piece tube sticks out flaps around its base during ignition, which (A) create an efficient gas seal against the bore, (B) stabilize the wad in flight like the feathers of a shuttlecock, and (C) promote higher pattern density. This shell is compatible with all upland chokes, but if you use a modified you can reasonably expect to put about 80% of the 1-1/4 ounce shot column through a 30 inch circle at 40 yards.
This shell’s two different types of #4 lead shot deliver two different types of punches. Thirty percent of the shot column is Federal’s unique FliteStopper pellets, which have sharp raised belts that gouge wide wound channels. The remainder is proper copper-plated shot, which resists deformation to ensure even tighter pattern density and especially deep penetration.
