Remington Ammunition 50 Grain Jacketed Hollow-Point (JHP) Ammo Details

Eugene Stoner did not set out to invent an amazing varmint rifle – but the great American gunsmith was so talented that he wound up doing so inadvertently. If you own an AR-15 (or more probably some derivative thereof), then this 223 Rem ammo by Remington is all you need to send nuisance beasts packing.

This cartridge’s bullet is just a little bit lighter than the 55 grain projectile the military’s M193 specification calls for. As such it’s able to clear the muzzle at a faster rate of 3,425 fps. You may note that the lighter bullet is more susceptible to wind drift over longer distances, but its flat trajectory at nearer ranges is totally worth the tradeoff. As a jacketed hollow point, the bullet is poised to expand outward after it plunges into a thin-skinned animal. That makes the JHP a great way to let a varmint know that it’s ever so truly dead.

Some folks ask what “UMC” means. It’s just a brand name – a nod to the Union Metallic Cartridge Company which Remington merged with in 1912. This ammo is loaded in the great state of Arkansas with Remington’s usual consistent brass cases and noncorrosive Boxer primers.
