Silver Bear Ammo
Silver Bear is a brand of the Barnaul Cartridge Plant JSC, which creates the entire Bear lineup, including Golden Bear and Brown Bear ammunition.
This manufacturer is based out or Russia and has been creating ammo since 1869, when Emperor Alexander I created a facility in St. Petersburg. The facility created rounds for the Russian army for decades and supplied the country during World War I.
In World War II, when Nazi forces were close to seizing the facility, the manufacturing operations were moved to Barnaul, where they have stayed ever since.
The company continued to produce ammunition throughout the Soviet Union, but when the Soviet system collapsed, the facility was finally able to flourish and expand. It is the largest manufacturer of ammunition in Russia and now sends products to North America, Asia, and Europe.
Silver Bear ammo is marked by its highly-polished zinc plated case, giving the cartridges their silver coloring. This zinc plating ensures consistent performance and smooth feeding from the magazine to the chamber. Silver Bear ammo is available in rifle, pistol, and military-spec ammunition.
The rifle ammunition from Silver Bear is available in many different calibers, including .223 Remington and 7.62 x 39, along with different bullet types, such as full metal jacket, soft point, and hollow point. The Silver Bear .308 Winchester round, for example, is available in soft point and full metal jacket, giving rifle owners options for hunting and target shooting.
Silver Bear’s pistol ammunition comes in 9mm Luger, 9 x 18 Marakov, .45 ACP, and .380 ACP. The handgun ammunition is available with two bullet types, the full metal jacket for target shooting and the hollow point rounds for hunting or personal defense.
The company also makes exceptional military-spec ammunition in .223 Remington cartridges. With 55-grain full metal jacket bullets and a muzzle velocity of 3,130 feet per second, these rounds are very effective for long days of target training.
