Wolf Ammunition 55 Grain Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Ammo Details

Would you like to fire Wolf ammunition, but frequent a range where magnetic ammo is banned? Are you a reloading enthusiast who can’t bring himself to buy steel cased ammo? Wolf caters to you either way with their Gold ammo line – not made of real gold, unfortunately, but nonmagnetic and brass cased all the way.

This 5.56x45 cartridge is Wolf’s own take on the military M193 round. Its bullet weighs 55 grains and is loaded to a 3,250 fps muzzle velocity. It is also an FMJ. To be sure, that’s not the bimetal jacket Wolf usually uses, but pure copper throughout. Such a bullet feeds with ease through a semi-auto, and keeps its rifling in better condition from start to finish. This is target grade ammunition meant for the rifle range – but it would absolutely wreck a threat to your safety as well.

This round’s casing is made of virgin brass instead of steel. It will seal your rifle’s chamber more effectively to reduce fouling of the action, and it will become useful at a loading bench after you’ve fired it. Wolf Gold cartridges utilize non-corrosive Boxer primers and smokeless propellant to achieve cleaner ignition.

Ammo arrived quickly, was boxed well and in perfect condition upon arrival. I recently purchased a build AR that needed to be sighted in. I fired off forty rounds to zero. Since this was my first attempt I didn’t worry to much about perfect placement, but was punching 2”-3” holes at 50 yards. I want to get used to the weapon before I expect the weapon and ammo to perform better than I expect myself to perform. Shoot, rest, shoot, rest: rather than shoot, shoot, shoot, burning up expense rounds. I had zero failures and perfect cycling. The ammo seems to fire relatively cleanly with minimal residue. I’m satisfied and pleased with the ammo, but like everyone, would like to see prices drop as I’m just a poor retired cop with not a lot of cash to burn. I recommend purchase of this ammunition. Shoot well and be happy!
