This round’s 40 grain bullet is no simple jacketed hollow point. Its core and jacket are welded together so it can retain the momentum needed to satisfy the FBI test protocol’s criterion for penetration, and it is furthermore notched to promote expansion up to 1.5 times its original diameter. While a 22 WMR will never deliver the same kind of devastation as, say, a 9mm, the PDX1 label maximizes the potential of a rimfire round.

This round is somewhat unique for a 22 WMR in that its brass case is nickel-plated. Nickel creates less friction as it cycles through a semi-auto, and also slides out of a revolver or derringer’s chamber far more easily.
