This 12 gauge ammo comes in a 3-inch shell for increased power and payload that pays off when taking shots out to 50 yards. The payload itself is a unique blend of which is 20% No. 6 belted FLITESTOPPER at the top, 40% No. 5 copper-plated shot in the middle, and 40% No. 7 HEAVYWEIGHT shot bringing up the rear. This combination of different shot loads has been tested to achieve wide, forgiving patterns at close range while maintaining appropriate shot density out to 50 yards.

The 3rd Degree shotshell design takes advantage of Federal's proven FliteControl wad which exits the barrel with the shot load and keeps it contained out to 10 yards before it air-brakes itself to the rear without obstructing the tight, effective shot cloud. The wad also has a flared bottom and receives the full power benefit of a clean-burning powder load for efficient and consistent muzzle velocity. These components are contained within a water-resistant plastic hull with firm crimping, rolled edges, and a high-brass head which is equipped with a non-corrosive 209 primer from Federal's own stores.
