22 SAVAGE HI-POWER
The 22 Savage Hi-Power (aka 5.6x52mmR) first hit the scene in 1912. Its abnormally high velocity for its era (2,790 fps with a 70 grain projectile) made the 22 Savage popular among large game hunters, who often used it to bag tigers and even buffalo. The advent of modern .22 cal cartridges like the 223 Rem has rendered the 22 Savage mostly obsolete, although it is still produced by several European companies.
