.243 WSSM

The 243 WSSM (or 243 Winchester Super Short Magnum, if you won’t stand for abbreviations) is a hunting rifle cartridge introduced to the commercial market by Winchester in 2003. The original 243 Win is designed for a short action. The 243 WSSM is designed for – you guessed it – a super short action. As such the cartridges have significantly different overall lengths and aren’t interchangeable. Bullets lighter than 70 grains are good for varmint hunting; for deer hunting, try 90 grains or heavier.
