257 ROBERTS
The 257 Roberts (aka 257 Bob, because of course it is) is a mid-power quarter bore cartridge that hit the scene during the 1920s. It offers a good balance between power and recoil and is suitable for dramatically shortening deer’s lives. After WWII, it was common practice to rechamber the Japanese Empire’s Type 38 Arisaka rifles for 257 Roberts (although small modifications had to be made to the cartridge case in order for the trick to work).
