The 300 Remington Ultra Magnum (aka 300 RUM, 300 Ultra Mag, or 7.62x72mm) became one of the largest .30 cal cartridges on the market upon its introduction in 1999, and second only to the 30-378 Wby Mag in terms of case capacity. Its middleweight 180 grain bullet achieves ~3,225 fps muzzle velocity out of a 24” barrel. Available in three power levels: I, which mimics the 30-06; II, which mimics the 300 Win Mag; and III, which is full power.
