38-55 WINCHESTER
The 38-55 Winchester (aka 38-55 WCF, or 38-55 Ballard) first entered production in 1884. The lever-action rifle round became popular for hunting medium game at close-to-medium range, but gradually fell by the wayside as more powerful lever gun rounds debuted. Notably, the 38-55 WCF provided the parent case for both the 30-30 Win and the 375 Win.
