404 JEFFERY
The 404 Jeffery (aka 404 Rimless Nitro Express) is a Big Five cartridge – not as powerful as the 416 Rigby or 416 Remington, but still potent thanks to its 300 grain bullet’s ~4,500 ft lbs muzzle energy (or 400 grain bullet’s ~4,100 ft lbs muzzle energy). The 404 Jeffery case’s lack of a belt has made it popular among wildcatters. Several commercial rounds are based on it including the Remington Ultra Magnum family of cartridges.
